The Twenty First Century Hotel (Ershiyi shiji fandian), a Japan-China three star joint venture, is located at the northeast of the city, about 10km from the city center. The hotel while being a little way out for visiting the sights, is in perfect location for those after a bit of relaxation or seeking a Beijing blues experience; The Sanlitun bar area is just down the road.
This futuristic and spacious hotel has 365 standard rooms and ten suites, all equipped with air-conditioning, IDD telephone and minibar. The hotel has a strange blend of services and functions: it seems designed more for business and conferences, with various meeting halls, a grand theater and a huge International Conference Hall, with more than 400 seats and a multi language translation system. There is also a vocational training complex here which has more than 20 subjects from computer training to Japanese flower arranging (Ikabana) and tea ceremony (Tayado). There is also a six court tennis center and a 50 meter indoor pool.
Along with all these comprehensive, but strangely located facilities, the hotel also has 5 restaurants serving Chinese, Western and Japanese food.
