The citywide torch relay for The 8th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities was held yesterday morning (November 9) in Guangzhou, Guangdong. The tinder flame was collected in Qujing, the source of the Pearl River. And the torch was passed to Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Xinjiang, Guangxi and Tibet these five Minority Autonomous Regions.
Fifty-six women represented 56 ethnics in China, together with 1000 youth volunteers welcomed the guests from all walks of life at Yuntai Garden, at the foot of Baiyun Mountain, Guangzhou. The torch relay also began from here to Nanyue Royal Tomb Museum, Zhongshan Memorial Hall, Chen Clan Academy, Shang Xia Jiu Shopping Streets, Xinghai Concert Hall , and finally arrived at Guangdong Olympic Center at 11:25am .
The opening ceremony of the Games was held last night at Guangdong Olympic Center.
