As the Beijing Olympic Games near, the security checks at the national airports and railway stations are much strict than before. Some measures of the Guangzhou Railway Station are upgraded to form five lines of defense.

Inclusive with the belonging checks, security equipments for the liquid explosive materials were set at the square outside the station, entrances, security gates, waiting rooms and platform. Cops with gun await at each spot for the checks.

The station has introduced 20 detectors to check suspicious materials on the trains set out to Beijing and Tianjin. It is known that the detectors can induce detonators or explorers within 150 meters even through the carriages.
