It is always hard to tell whether it will rain or shine during Guangzhou summers. So, as of today, Guangzhou Metro will set up a new umbrella rental service at seven of its stations to help passengers stranded because of unexpected showers.

The seven stations slated to provide the service are Kecun, Gongyuanqian, Guangzhou East Railway Station, Tiyu Xi Road, Martyrs¡¯ Park, Gangding and Jiangnan Xi. If passengers wish to use the service they must pay a deposit of 20 Yuan at the ticket booths of one of those seven stations. After renting umbrellas passengers may return them to any one of the seven stations within 15 days. Any related documents will be required in order to get deposits back.

It is reported that 500 to 1000 umbrellas will be available at each station according to passenger flow.
